Programs

A regular course of the Korean Language Education Center is for foreigners and overseas Koreans who would like to enter Korean universities and graduate schools or applying for a job.
The curriculum consists of four semesters per year- spring / summer / fall / winter semester- and each semester is 10 weeks (200 hours).

TimeTable

One semester is 10 weeks, with 4 hours a day (200 hours per semester) from Monday to Friday. Class hours are from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Each semester includes a variety of cultural classes.

Step-by-Step Learning Objectives
Beginner Korean 1 A learner can make a basic conversation for daily life activities such as ‘introducing oneself, shopping, ordering food’; a learner can understand and express familiar topics such as ‘oneself, family, hobby and weather’.
A learner can create a simple sentence based on understanding basic vocabulary and grammar. He or she understands and organizes simple and practical sentences.
Korean 2 Telephone conversation, asking a favor, using public facilities such as post office, bank' and others
A learner can understand and use paragraphs on private and familiar topics.
A learner can distinguish expressions between formal and informal
Intermediate Korean 3 A learner does not feel any difficulty in daily life, and can use the basic language to use various public facilities and maintain social relations.
It is possible to express or understand the familiar social topic in paragraph as well as personal one.
The basic characteristics of written and spoken language can be understood and used separately.
Korean 4 A learner can use the language for the public facilities and social relation, as well as general work performance.
Also, most general social topics of ‘news and newspaper articles’ can be understood and used.
It is possible to understand and use socio-cultural contents based on the common idiomatic expressions and understanding representative Korean culture.
Advanced Korean 5 A learner enhances advanced expressions and comprehension skills based on what has been learned in elementary and intermediate classes.
It is also possible to appropriately classify the language according to the situation-formal and informal as well as spoken and written context.
Korean 6 Based on the learned language ability, it is possible to logically and fluently express his / her ideas for research or work in the specialized field. A learner can understand and discuss academic and specific topics such as ‘politics, economy, society and culture’. Though not having reached the level of native speakers, he or she does not suffer from performing linguistic functions or expressing opinions.
※ Students with no prior knowledge of Korean will be automatically placed in level 1.
